Event Description

The 24th episode of The Architects Series will host international architecture studio CZA – Cino Zucchi Architetti on Thursday, June 9. This webinar event will include the screening of a video followed by a lecture delivered by Cino Zucchi, chief architect at Cino Zucchi Architetti.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. (CEST) / 5:30 p.m. (BST) / 12:30 p.m. (EDT), the webinar will stream live from the Iris Ceramica Group’s Milan flagship store.

The screening of the approximately 30-minute video documentary will be followed by a live Lecture by by Cino Zucchi, chief architect of Cino Zucchi Architetti.  The event will offer a deeper insight into the studio’s design philosophy, while providing an opportunity to discuss issues related to the world of architecture. The event will conclude with a Q&A session, in which participants will be able to ask questions to the architect. 
   

The course is under approval by AIA CES-USA (LUs available also for AIA UK chapter members) and RIBA CPD-UK for learning units recognition and under approval by CNACPP for accreditation 2 CFP, Crediti Formativi Professionali - Italy only.

Cino Zucchi Architetti is dedicated to creating new spatial solutions for contemporary living within the delicate setting of the European landscape.

Its best-known urban projects include the redevelopment of the Abbiategrasso exhibition complex, the redesign of the former Junghans factory in Venice, the design of sector 2b-2c of the former Alfa Romeo-Portello area in Milan, the port of Epano Skala in Mytilene-Lesvos, the redevelopment of the Ewald mine in Herten, the redevelopment of the Keski-Pasila district in Helsinki, and the redesign of the Nuovo Quartiere Cornaredo in Lugano.

Its extensive experience in the field of urban design – from feasibility study development through to implementation – has seen the studio playing an active role in complex recursive processes involving the multiple parties, skills, and professionals typically found nowadays in urban projects.

Close attention to public spaces and landscape are core elements of its design approach and typifies the projects that CZA has completed over the years. Examples include Via Paride in Cerea, Piazza del Gratosoglio in Milan, the San Donà park in Piave, and a pedestrian walkway in Lugano, all of which required sensitivity and careful attention to each project’s unique features.

Along with consolidated experience in the design and construction of residential buildings (examples include the former Junghans factory in Venice, the Portello area of Milan, and the Triloogia Navile in Bologna), CZA has overseen numerous commercial and public building projects, including the former Alfa canteen in Milan, building U15 in Assago, the new Salewa headquarters, concept design for Benetton, the expansion of the Turin Auto Museum, the church of the Resurrection in Sesto S. Giovanni, and the library in S. Donato Milanese.

The studio approaches each new project as a unique challenge that needs to develop its own character through ample discussions with the client and a thorough understanding of the site. This makes it possible for architecture to become the key agent in the metamorphosis of human and natural environments.
