Course Description
This course explores the architecture of the
future. World-famous architecture firms 3XN
Architects share their vision of future architecture and decades of experience
in the field of architectural design. Closely examining flagship past designs
and future projects, the course offers valuable examples and useful analysis tools
that the firms have evolved during their successful professional path. It also
reveals the creative processes that have and will lead to the construction of
highly-advanced buildings, both from an architectural and environmental sustainability
point of view. The firms offers insights and comments on their own creative
process through tangible experience at the highest levels of the architecture
field, offering a forum for discussion and a significant study opportunity for
all architects keen to find out more about the design dynamics that underpin
the biggest contemporary works of architecture.
Learning Objectives
These videos were created to provide new operational tools and foster
greater knowledge about the architectural design process via:
- international architects’ operational experiences
- cross-references to international projects that leverage a vision of the architecture of the future
- strategies and solutions for implementing international projects involving major creative and innovative commitments in design and environmental sustainability
- knowledge about materials and technical tips and
tricks used in select case studies
Requirements
Users can access the course using any recent web browser.Data is stored in a database for subsequent use (presence checks, user data, comprehension questions).To monitor course participants, the following will be performed:
- User
login identification using a user ID and password, sent to participants after registration
- Monitoring
the total connection time of each user and the percentage of the videos viewed using the SCORM system
- Completion of final assessment questionnaire, with question sets of a suitable level to evaluate learning and listening comprehension of the topics covered, with a minimum passing grade of 70%
About the Architects
Kim Herforth Nielsen
3XN Architects
For three decades now, one of the practice’s founders, Kim Herforth Nielsen, has been the driving force that has made 3XN one of the world’s most innovative international architectural practices, pursuing projects in Europe, Australia, Canada and the United States. Guided by a vision of architecture that is driven by ongoing research into human needs and behavior, in his role as creative director Kim Nielsen is in charge of architectural quality from idea to execution. Thanks to his experience, he is often invited to sit on the juries of international architectural competitions. He has worked as a lecturer at academies of art and universities around the world, served as Chairman of the Danish Arts Foundation Architecture Committee from 2014-2018, and is co-Chair of the Van Alen International Council. Nielsen holds a number of honorary posts at academic institutions, including the Aarhus School of Architecture and the Delft University of Technology; he has received some of his country’s highest honors, including the Knights’ Cross of the Order of Dannebrog, which Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II awarded him in 2000, and in 2019 the CF Hansen Medaille, Denmark’s highest award for architects.
