Course Description
The course deals with new architectural ideas that improve people’s quality of life. The Powerhouse Company, which has always worked on a broad range of projects, outlines its innovative architectural vision through the voices of its most prominent professionals
and its founder, Nanne de Ru. The course will provide examples and analytical tools drawn from a close examination of the firm’s main completed and future projects. The creative processes that led, and will lead, to the construction of highly advanced
buildings will be examined, both from the perspective of architectural design and compositional innovation. The concepts of aesthetics and function, along with the overlap between the two, will be addressed. Disciplines such as architecture, interior
design, and product design need to interconnect and influence each other to create architecture that improves quality of life. This course is an important opportunity for discussion and study for all architects who want a close insight into the design
dynamics underlying the greatest works of contemporary architecture.
