Course Description
The course deals with the design and construction of high-performance buildings that both satisfy client expectations and create vibrant, innovative urban spaces. With its extensive international experience, the Mecanoo architecture studio talks about its innovative architectural vision through the voices of its most prominent professionals and creative director and founding partner, Francine Houben. The course will provide examples and analytical tools drawn from a close examination of the firm’s main completed and future projects. The creative processes that led, and will lead, to the construction of very advanced buildings will be examined from the perspective of both architectural design and compositional innovation. This course is an important opportunity for discussion and study for all architects who want to closely analyze the design dynamics at work in projects at every scale. In fact, Mecanoo’s portfolio spans almost every area of construction, including education and research, libraries, theaters, museums, offices, hotels, leisure facilities, housing, mixed-use buildings, urban regeneration, landscaping, general planning, and mobility.
